"Morning Joe" Interns: Apply Now
07:55pm 19/08/2009

Miss Elizabeth
"Morning Joe" has released a video about their interns. (View in Large | View in Small)

They wake up and go in at 4 a.m.? I guess that makes sense since "Way Too Early" starts at 5:30 a.m. and "Morning Joe" starts at 6 a.m., but still...that's quite early. I like how they all talk about how they all started off with internships. It gives me hope. =D

One of my favourite shows. To see more of "Morning Joe", their videos are under the Links Section to the left.

MSNBC interns must meet the following criteria:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's/Masters program at an accredited college or university

  • 18 years or older and current sophomore standing or above

  • Able to receive academic credit from their college or university prior to starting assignment

  • Commit to a minimum of 3 days per week either on a part-time or full-time basis

    1. Feltbeats has 44 photos of Tom Felton's meet & greet in Toronto and Much Music interview on Facebook (you don't need an account). You should check out the ones when he's leaving...he was mobbed. His facial expression is hilarious!

    2. Go vote for your most, second, and least favourite drabble @ [info]sortinghatdrabs! I'm participating this round and it's Ron & Draco this week. =)

    3. Free movie: "Monsters vs. Aliens"!! If you're in Toronto on August 29 @ 11 a.m. (ETA: It's not just in Toronto, but any Rainbow locations in Canada)

    4. If you weren't able to write 20k words for [info]hermionebigbang, then their Phase I is open. You pick a piece of artwork or video, and create a fic inspired by it with a minimum of 1,000 words (which is perfect for me!)

Deadline is September 6, 2009 with no extension. The artwork is fabulous and there are a bunch of Draco/Hermione, Severus/Hermione, gen, amongst others! Go have a look at least cause they're lovely, lovely. =)

    5. So f-list, if you've seen me commenting on some of your posts dating back a month for the past couple of weeks, then just letting you know I've been catching up. =)

Interesting tidbit fact of LJ that I've found out - individual journals can go back 500 entries, while your Friends page can go back 800 entries.

Um, I forgot who it was, but one of you was looking for Molly Weasley icons. [info]inspired_ideas has some here.

    6. Warner Bros. Canada has a collage of clips of HP1 to HP5 put together called, Retrospect. Time really does fly!

    7. Warner Bros. VIP Studio Tour has a shot of a fake Hermione from CS when she was petrified. There's also hilarious video tours with Ellen Degeneres. Click on the Video section and scroll down to "VIP Studio Tour promo clip". I didn't realize they used a prosethetic Hermione.

    8. If you like Kreesha Turner, you can download for free five of her songs, courtesy of Playtex. It includes new songs from her album, "Passion". It's great and best of all, it's free!! ;)

    9. Lastly, you can win a HP prop!! I'm out 'cause I don't live in the US, but all those that live in the US, well, go enter! You might win. I'm sad that I can't enter.
Promotional Prop Sweeptakes Poster under the cut )

    10. Oh, and one more thing - if you have Twitter, then apparently you can surprise your "Muggle followers with magical gifts"! That sounds cool, except that I don't have Twitter. What do you get??

    Miss Elizabeth
I wish the Canadian channels would pick up "Friday Nights with Jonathan Ross"...maybe CTV or Global TV? I've watched clips of it on YouTube, but it's not the same as watching the full episode with the intro and everything (since the intros are rarely uploaded onto YouTube). Or even if they made it available to download on iTunes like his radio programme on BBC Radio 2.

Emma Watson recently appeared on his show (I think it was July 3) and the Intro (first video) has no spoilers, and with the second video (part 1), they start talking about HBP 7 minutes into the clip (no HBP spoilers before then):

And she appeared on "The Early Show" this morning:

Part 1: I wouldn't say there are spoilers but there are small clips from the film that were released and part of the final trailer is played.

    1. Can't wait till HBP!! Four more days, two hours and some odd minutes & seconds!!

Tribute.ca has an interview (video) with Tom Felton just before the Meet and Greet in Toronto. (Link to Download)

Everyone really should see this or if you're avoiding previews, etc. until you've see HBP, then bookmark it to view it after you've seen the movie. WB has released 20 minutes of behind the scenes footage to IESB.net.

CNN had viewers send in questions and the cast respond. It includes Tom Felton, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, David Yates, and Emma Watson. (Video here)

ComingSoon.net has a written interview with Tom Felton and Muggle Hub has an amazing HBP screensaver among other things such as posters, wallpapers, site skins, etc.

French HBP Special: "50 Minutes Inside", which features approx. 10 minutes of interviews, behind the scenes, and new scenes. The interviews are dubbed, but if you strain, you can hear the English. I had to view it twice since my French is a bit rusty... New scenes include Quidditch, WWW, Hermione and Harry @Slughorn's Party, etc. Partial translation is here and the full 11:37 minutes is available for download here, courtesy of UHP. I really laughed when Dan struggled to say the intro in French and the pause before the last word, especially since "Inside" is English!! LOL

The Making of Harry Potter and the HBP: The Videogame, hosted by Tom Felton: Parts 2 and 3 are now available. In addition, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Freddie Stroma (Cormac McClaggen), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Jessie Cave (Lavande Brown), and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) all talk about dueling, potions, and Quidditch.

    "Merlin" (TV)
    09:47pm 21/06/2009

    Miss Elizabeth
I just saw the first two episodes of "Merlin" tonight (CTV | NBC 8 p.m. ET), which originally premiered on BBC One last fall. It's fantastic and engaging, and everyone should go watch it. Viewers should be careful to note that it's based somewhat on the Arthurian legends and that there are multiple variations of these legends (so keep an open mind!), and this television series follows Merlin (not Arthur). It's basically a prequel, like "Smallville", and follows Merlin before he was a full fledged magician. Some might say it's a reinterpretation since not much was written about the early life of Merlin, as his early life was usually mysterious or unknown.

An excerpt of the show: )

A video interview with Angel Coulby (Gwen) and Anthony Head (King Uther Pendragon) can be found here and you can listen to the soundtrack, ten of the eighteen tracks at one minute each, here.

"J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life" and "Land of the Lost"
    06:03pm 02/06/2009

    Miss Elizabeth
I've finally gotten a chance to sit down and watch "J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life". I know, I know, I'm slow. It's been sitting on my computer for over a year and I completely forgot about it! The second half was quite moving; it was her life before her success. Some tidbits that I didn't know about her: I didn't know that she smoked, albeit not everyday (it sounded like she only did it when she was stressed). She loves and indulges in shoes. She has anger about injustices such as social deprevation and social exclusion, and how it feels to exist in poverty. It causes her fury that people can't or don't seem to care about injustices (even about things that affect them such as crime and drugs). The hand over of the DH manuscript was interesting. I would've never have guessed it was at the airport. And that DH was finished in Room 552 at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, UK on January 11th, 2007. Her next project is a political fairy tale that she's not in a hurry to publish.

Her comment at the book signing to a child who was also named Hugo was so cute! It was really nice to see her draw the Potter and the Weasley family trees, and explain. Victoire was named so because she was born on the anniversary of the final battle. Charlie is not gay. I've never envisioned him as gay and I'm slightly confused as to how people could even think so (canon-wise). James Sirius' godparents are Hermione and Ron. Luna's children are younger than the Potter/Weasley family. It made me think back upon the fanfics I've read that had Loran and Lysander the same age as Rose, Scorpius, & co...

Has anyone else not watched the one hour special yet? If not, you should definitely watch it! Go!

    *~*

Yesterday, I was watching the "Today Show" and they ran a clip of Matt Lauer's cameo in the "Land of the Lost". It was hilarious!! For a second there, I thought it really happened while he interviewed Will Ferrell. The movie looks fabulous and it's definitely on my list of movies to watch. I haven't been tempted to go see a movie in such a long while. "Angels and Demons" did look interesting for awhile until I saw more clips near the release date and it just sank, in my opinion, to my DVDs to watch.

I've managed to amass a lot of photographs, stills, and posters of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" (Horcrux Hunting, London, Shell Cottage, Griphook, etc.) including HBP posters with the original release dates and have decided to post them.

Technology & Fashion: wearing a phone dress
    06:16pm 03/11/2008

    Miss Elizabeth

Wow! Has technology advanced! Now it's mixing with fashion, and just think! In 10 years, we might all be dressed in wearable technology. The UK firm CuteCircuit, produced the
M-Dress – a silk garment that doubles as a mobile phone. The M-Dress works with a standard SIM card and when the dress rings, you raise your hand to your head to answer the call. But I'm not sure if this will catch on. What if you forget to put the SIM card in your dress, or if you want to wear a sleeveless or short-sleeve dress? I think this trend will most likely take more than 10 years, but then again, technology can catch on really quickly...

Last Wednesday, 10/29 at 8 PM, Obama aired a half hour prime time infomercial at three major networks (seven television channels) and got 35 million viewers. The channel, ABC, was the only channel to go ahead to air the season finale of "Pushing Daisies" and received
33.5 million viewers. The most viewers ever during the season...so, I guess counter programming works! I find this quite amusing that this actually worked and they got such high ratings! I'd love to see how much the ratings spread throughout the half hour...did Obama get more viewers at the beginning than the end? And "Pushing Daisies" got more near the end than the start of the show?

Sarah Palin has the worst handlers and staff...I will admit that she doesn't need the prank call on her plate near the end of the U.S. elections, but her staff should have verified the phone call! The accent isn't even a Parisian accent...

Mr. Audette said in an interview yesterday, "we thought it would be mission impossible. But after about a dozen calls, we started to realize it might work, because her staff didn't know the name of the French President. They asked us to spell it."
    !!!
Er, how self-absorbed are her staff not to know that President Sarkozy is the French President but is also the EU President? That's just shocking and sad. They should have screened her calls--that way, Palin probably wouldn't be in this mess. I cringed when she didn't catch on, but my mother thought this prank was just a bit cruel. In an interview with the Early Show on CBS, Audette and Trudel explained that only two people did not catch on that it was a prank -- Britney Spears and Sarah Palin. It took them two days to get through to Britney Spears, four to five days to get through to Sarah Palin, one month for Bill Gates, and two months for Paul McCartney. I still think she should have caught the PM of Canada part at least... I wonder if PM Harper still holds the Republican ticket in high esteem like he said he did during our election campaign...

However, I will say that Senator McCain sure has a sense of humour!
He was hilarious on Saturday Night Live! He poked fun at his campaign strategies... I thought "The Sad Grampa" was the funniest of all, along with being ready to fight Vladimir Putin with "The Rocky IV"!

Update: For Canadians who can't see the clip, please click here.
